Sony's PlayStation 3 redesign is set to hit stores September 1st.
Video here:
They've ditched the shiny design for one that resembles the PS2 somewhat. The buttons are no longer touch sensitive. The hard drive is removable in case you want to upgrade or you have a problem.
The new chip is just as fast, but doesn't run as hot, reducing power consumption and fan noise. The new PS3 comes with a 120gb hard drive and still has the ability to play Blu-Ray.
I'm a big time Sony hater, but I'm impressed. I have seen Playstation 3's in action before and the video is marvelous. To get that kind of power in a console for $299 is quite a bargain. This is the competition the Wii has needed for some time now.
This time last year I was predicting Sony gaming's demise would not be in the distant future. They may have just saved themselves. The PS3 has gone from an overpriced console nobody wanted to the console that gives you the most bang for your buck, but is it too late in the game?
